To lose weight: Calorie counting or intuitive eating?

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

Take a look at this comparison:

I bet 9 out of 10 people would not have guessed that the Big Mac contains fewer calories than the banana bread + butter.

This is why it’s important to track your food and not rely on “intuitive eating” when you want to lose weight.

The purpose of this post isn’t to encourage you to eat Big Macs or to demonize banana bread.

It’s simply to emphasize objectivity.

Some foods have more calories than others.

Fact.

Some foods are more nutrient dense than others.

Fact.

Intuitive eating is a comfortable way of eating.

But when you want to achieve your goals (whether that’s weight loss, health, whatever), you need to let go of your feelings and make decisions based on facts.

Because feelings are designed for comfort, not success.
